Public Hearings in P&Z and City Council May 2nd & 9th, 7:00 pm at the City Office Building.

April 18, 2024

The purpose of these hearings on May 2nd in P&Z and May 9th in City Council, is to discuss Ordinance No. 2024-2, an ordinance of the City of Menan regarding the use of shipping containers within city limits. Ordinance No. 2024-2 proposes to repeal the restriction of shipping containers and amend the land-use table to include shipping containers as an allowed use in all zones, subject to building codes. Additionally, the ordinance aims to provide regulations for the use of shipping containers as accessory buildings and as buildings or building components subject to building codes and permitting procedures. The purpose of the second public hearing by the City Council on May 9, 2024, is to consider a proposed change to the Menan City Code. The proposed amendment involves the repeal of Section 8-2-4 titled "Plat with Short Application" and the replacement with a new Section 8-2-4 titled "Administrative Land Splits." **Reason for the Code Change:** The proposed code change aims to simplify the process for simple land divisions within the City of Menan. The revision is also intended to better align the city code with Jefferson County regulations. All interested parties are encouraged to attend this public hearing to express their views and provide input on the proposed ordinance. Written comments may also be submitted to the Menan City Hall prior to the hearing date.
